Mon the biff! It’s sixth time lucky for Biffy Clyro as the great sons of Kilmarnock go straight in at the top of the Official Albums Chart, with a double album no less!
Big congratulations goes out to the band as Opposites becomes Biffy’s first ever Number 1 album. Simon Neil, Ben Johnston and James Johnston reached Number 2 and Number 3 respectively with their two previous studio albums, 2007s Puzzle and 2009s Only Revolutions.
"Opposites feels like the best record we've ever made and to have it sitting atop the Official Albums Chart is a huge honour," the band told OfficialCharts.com. "Thank you so much to all our fans."
Opposites has sold an impressive 71,500 copies this week, which is not only the biggest opening week tally for an album this year so far, it’s also a personal best for Biffy, eclipsing the first week sales of their previous Top 10 albums (Puzzle sold 37,000 week one, while Only Revolutions sold 43,000 week one).
Opposites relegates The Motion Picture Cast Recording of Les Miserables to Number 2 on the Official Albums Chart, while 35 years after its release, Rumours is back in the Top 3 as the seminal Fleetwood Mac album finishes the week at Number 3.
Emeli Sande is still hanging in there with Our Version Of Events at Number 4, while the acoustic revamp of Justin Bieber’s Number 1 album Believe completes this week’s Official Albums Chart Top 5.
In addition to Biffy Clyro’s Opposites (1), and the 35th anniversary of Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours (3) and Justin Bieber’s Believe Acoustic (5), there are two new entries on this week’s Official Albums Chart.
Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli is at Number 9 with his 14th studio album Passione, whilst Conduit, the sixth album by Welsh rockers Funeral For A Friend finishes the week at Number 34.
The Official Albums Chart Top 10 is as follows:

|4||OUR VERSION OF EVENTS||EMELI SANDE|
|5||BELIEVE - ACOUSTIC||JUSTIN BIEBER|
