Bastille back on top of Official Albums Chart thanks to the BRITs effect

Best British Breakthrough winners return to Number 1 with Bad Blood, as other winners and performers climb back up the chart.

The BRIT Awards 2014 have had a big impact on this week’s Official Albums Chart, with Bastille benefitting the most – their album Bad Blood leaps nine places to return to Number 1 following the group’s big win and amazing performance with Rudimental.

Double BRIT Award winners Arctic Monkeys are also on their way back up. Mastercard Album Of The Year AM also surges nine places to Number 2.

Nominees Disclosure may not have taken any awards home on the night, but after their on-stage collaboration with Best International Female winner Lorde has helped their debut album Settle rocket 29 places to Number 3.

Best British Female winner Ellie Goulding is at Number 4 with Halcyon and Best British Single winners Rudimental soar 14 places to Number 5 with debut release Home.

New Entries and High Climbers

New at Number 11, Edinburgh-born singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt scores a debut entry on the Official Albums Chart with Peroxide.

New Yorkers We Are The In Crowd score their first Official Albums Chart entry with new album Weird Kids at Number 24. US country rock band Blackberry Smoke also get their first ever entry on the chart – The Whippoorwill is new in at Number 30.

Climbing 18 places with All The Little Lights is Best British Single nominee Passenger, rising to Number 20 this week.

Best International Group nominees Haim soar 18 places to put Days Are Gone at Number 26, while Dire Straits climb 24 places to put vintage album Brothers In Arms back in the Top 40.

After taking home Best International Group at Wednesday’s BRIT Awards, Daft Punk rocket 42 places to bring Random Access Memories back to the Top 40, at Number 36.

Arctic Monkeys score another entry on the Top 40 this week, with debut album Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not leaping 31 places to settle at Number 40 this week.
