Avengers Assemble becomes second biggest-selling video of 2012

Avengers Assemble is set to be one of the biggest hits of the year as it becomes the second biggest-selling video of 2012 during its first week on sale, shooting straight to Number 1 on the Official Video Chart.

The superhero movie, sixth in the expansive Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise, sold 755 000 copies during its first week on sale, becoming the second fastest-selling movie so far this year, and only behind The Twilight Saga – Breaking Dawn Part 1. The Robert Downey jr-led blockbuster shifted over 300 000 copies more than previous second-biggest seller The Hunger Games in its first week.

Avengers Assemble is already the biggest-selling Blu-Ray of 2012, with 250 000 copies sold.

Additionally, the Avengers Assemble - 6 Movie Collection, which features all six movies released so far in the franchise comes in at Number 4 on this week's Official Video Chart. American Pie – The Reunion and previous second biggest-seller The Hunger Games are bumped down to second and third place respectively, while The Pirates – In an Adventure with Scientists completes this week’s Top 5.

New Entries

In addition to Avengers Assemble (1) Avengers Assemble - 6 Movie Collection (4), there are only two new entries in this week’s Official Video Chart. Glee – The Complete Third Season sings its way to Number 7 while horror film Silent House comes in at 33.
