The Official Chart Update feels the Eurovision effect with five songs from Saturday's contest on track for a Top 40 placing this Sunday.

Netherlands’ Eurovision entrants Common Linnets may have finished second to Austria’s much-talked about winner Conchita Wurst in Saturday’s song contest in Copenhagen, but the country duo are ahead of their rival on today’s Official Chart Update.

Well-received folk anthem Calm After The Storm leads the midweek Eurovision takeover – with three tracks dominating the Top 10.  Almost 4,000 copies ahead of Conchita as things stand, the Dutch singer/songwriters have rocketed 90 places since the weekend to land at Number 5. The track is the highest of five Eurovision 2014 songs in this week’s Top 40.

Eurovision 2014 victor Conchita Wurst looks set to score her first ever UK hit with her winning song Rise Like A Phoenix, new at Number 9.

It's been quite a week for Conchita. Not only did she walk off with the Eurovision prize, but a butcher in her hometown of Bad Mitterndorf has created a special sausage named after the star, in recognition of her stage name Wurst, which means sausage in German.

“It looks good, but I never imagined it would be so big,” Conchita told the Austrian Times. ”Wurst is after all my name – it’s from the German expression "It’s all sausage", which means "I don’t care". It’s all sausage after all if I am man, or a woman.”

The UK’s own entry Molly may have finished in 17th place on Saturday, but Children Of The Universe has been a hit with pop pickers this week – catapulting 23 places to land at Number 10. If Molly can hold on to this position by the time the final whistle blows on Sunday, it will be her second Top 10 hit. As part of Stunt, she featured on Sash!’s Raindrops (Encore Une Fois) in 2008.

Sweden’s Eurovision entry Sanna Nielsen is on track to make her UK Top 40 debut this Sunday - Undo, which finished in third place in Saturday night’s competition, is new at Number 24.

Rounding off the slew of Eurovision entries is Denmark’s Basim - the former Danish X Factor contestant’s Cliché Love Song rides at Number 30 midweek.
