Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea are set to make British chart history with Problem.

Ariana Grande is on track to claim not only her first UK Top 40 hit, but her first Number 1 on British shores this week with Problem FT Iggy Azalea.

US singer/songwriter Ariana Grande looks set to take her place in UK chart history this weekend, with Problem on track to become the first Official Singles Chart Number 1 to include streaming data.

As of this week, the Official Singles Chart now combines traditional physical and download sales data with on-demand audio streams from services like Spotify, Deezer and Napster, with 100 streams being equivalent to one single purchase.

Problem has racked up a combined ‘chart sales’ figure of nearly 67,000 so far this week, with only 1.7% of those being attributed to streams.

With ‘90s pop beats and a catchy saxophone loop, Problem has already charted in the Top 5 in America, Australia, Canada, Denmark, New Zealand, Sweden and Greece and, if its momentum continues into the weekend, the track will not only be Ariana’s first UK Number 1, but Aussie rapper Iggy’s as well.

Ghost by Ella Henderson holds firm at Number 2 today, while George Ezra’s Budapest, ascends from Number 5 to Number 3, following his performance at last weekend’s Glastonbury festival.

Rounding out the Top 5 on today’s Update are Ed Sheeran’s Sing, which slides one place to Number 4, and reigning Official Singles Chart Number 1, Oliver Heldens and Becky Hill’s Gecko (Overdrive), which drops four places to Number 5 at this midway stage.

New Entries and High Climbers

In addition to Ariana Grande’s Problem FT Iggy Azalea (Number 1), there are two other new entries on today’s Official Singles Chart Update. Australian singer/songwriter, Sia, is in at Number 6 with Chandelier, putting her firmly on track for her first solo Top 10 single in 14 years!

Meanwhile, DJ Fresh has teamed up with British drum and bass producer, TC, for Make U Bounce FT Little Nikki, new at Number 7.

The highest climber on today’s Update is Aussie band, 5 Seconds Of Summer’s debut UK single, She Looks So Perfect, which climbs 18 places to Number 19 after the release of the group’s self-titled debut album this week, which is currently Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart Update.
