Amy Winehouse albums and singles set to dominate Official Charts

26/07/2011

Amy Winehouse is set to dominate both the Official Singles and Official Albums Charts this coming weekend, according to initial sales reports released to the music industry by the Official Charts Company this morning.

Winehouse is on course to have seven singles in the Top 40 and 14 in the Top 200, as sales of her music surges following her tragic death at the weekend. The biggest selling track is currently Back To Black followed by Rehab, Tears Dry On Their Own, You Know I’m No Good and Valerie, along with Winehouse’s version of Valerie with Mark Ronson, all of which are set to appear in the Top 40. Back To Black is on course for a Top 5 entry.

In turn, Winehouse is set to have four versions of her two albums appear in the Official Albums Chart Top 20. The original version of Back To Black is vying for the Number One spot with Adele (it is currently the second biggest selling album of the week), while a combined Frank/Back To Black double set and the deluxe edition of Back To Black are set to chart in the Top 10. The original version of Winehouse’s debut album Frank is also set to enter the Top 20.

Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot says, "The British public is showing just how much they loved Amy’s music, with Back To Black clearly their favourite single and album."

The Official midweek sales standings will be unveiled tomorrow (Wednesday) in the form of the Official Chart Update, on BBC Radio 1’s Greg James show, from 3.30pm to 4pm. The Official Chart Update reveals how the runners and riders are selling in the first three days of the sales week (Sunday through Tuesday), outlining the hottest new tracks of the week so far, as well as the new entries and highest climbers.

The Official Singles Chart will be unveiled this Sunday on the Chart Show with Reggie Yates, from 4pm to 7pm on BBC Radio 1. In turn, Jo Whiley features Official Albums Chart highlights every Mondays between 8pm and 9pm, on BBC Radio 2.
