Alien prequel Prometheus tops Official Video Chart

Prometheus has gone straight in at Number 1 on the Official Video Chart.

Director Ridley Scott’s prequel to his 1979 sci-fi epic, Alien, sees Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, and Charlize Theron journey to a far off moon in search of the origins of humanity, only to uncover a threat that could lead to our extinction. Prometheus out sold its closest rival, Mrs Brown’s Boys Series Two (Number 2), by nearly three copies to one to debut at the top of the chart.

Shrek's Thrilling Tales, which features a series of Halloween shorts from DreamWorks Animation's Shrek and Monsters Vs. Aliens franchises, is down one place to Number 3, while last week’s chart topper, Snow White And The Huntsman, falls three places to Number 4. Rock Of Ages, which stars Tom Cruise, Russell Brand and Alec Baldwin, completes this week’s Top 5, debuting at Number 5.

New Entries

In addition to Prometheus (Number 1), Mrs Brown’s Boys Series 2 (Number 2) and Rock Of Ages (5) there are eight other new entries on this week’s Official Video Chart.

Ben Drew AKA Plan B’s directorial debut, Ill Manors, debuts at Number 7, while Monster High – Ghouls Rule is new in at Number 9. Season 4 of Sons Of Anarchy is new in at Number 11, followed by Series 1 and 2 boxed set of Mrs Brown’s Boys.

Crime thriller 13 (starring Jason Statham, Sam Riley, Ray Winstone, 50 Cent and Mickey Rourke) enters at Number 17, while Indiana Jones - The Complete Adventures, which collects together all four Indiana Jones films, is new in at Number 26.

This week’s new entries are completed Juan Martinez Moreno’s Attack of The Werewolves (35) and Noel Clark’s Fast Girls (37).
