Adele has officially out-Adele-d herself: her latest album 25 is the biggest selling in America since her last LP 21.

25 leads Billboard 200 album chart for a fourth consecutive week this week, notching up sales of 825,000.

The figure means it has sold 5.98 million in its first four weeks, surpassing sales of Taylor Swift's 1989 (5.57 million) to become the biggest selling album in the country since 21 in 2011, which sold 11.37 million. 25 is now also the biggest selling in a calendar year since Usher's Confessions in 2004 (7.98 million).

What's more, 25 is the only album to shift more than 695,000 copies in four different weeks since Billboard's data aggregator Neilsen Music began tracking point-of-sale purchases in 1991.

Adele's 21 also returns to the US Top 10 this week, jumping from 14 to 10, while her debut set 19 jumps 48 to 36.

Elsewhere on this week's Billboard 200, Justin Bieber's Purpose climbs a place to Number 2, Pentatonix's That's Christmas To Me is at 3, One Direction's Made In The A.M shifts 8 to 4, and The Weeknd's Beauty Behind The Madness completes the Top 5.

Further down the chart, Michael Buble's Christmas returns to the Top 10 at 8 and The Voice US winner Jordan Smith debuts at 11 with The Complete Season 9 Collection.

Back in the UK, Adele recently logged a fourth week at Number 1 with 25 and passed the 2 million sales mark in record time
