There’s no stopping everyone’s favourite chart record-breaker this week, as Adele’s 25 scores a seventh consecutive week at Number 1.

Despite a serious challenge this week from Elvis Presley – who would’ve celebrated his 81st birthday today – Adele finished out in front of the King by almost 3,300 chart sales.

Since going straight in at the top of the Official Albums Chart in November, 2015, the Londoner’s third LP hit 2 million sales in record time and was the top selling entertainment title of 2015.

Birthday boy Elvis has to settle for Number 2 today, then, with If I Can Dream, which spends its 10th consecutive week in the Top 3. Click to see where all Elvis's UK hit singles and albums have charted

Meanwhile, Justin Bieber’s Purpose holds firm at 3, Jess Glynne’s I Cry When I Laugh stays at 4 and James Bay’s Chaos And The Calm rises five places to return to the Top 5.

New entries and high climbers

Following his live show at Big Ben, broadcast on the BBC on New Year’s Eve, Canadian rocker Bryan Adams, sees a boost, with two albums returning to the Top 40. Hits collection The Best Of Me rockets 108 spots to land at Number 20, while latest release Get Up zooms 61 places to this week’s Number 26.

Highest brand new entry this week comes from Rhiannon Giddens, with Tomorrow Is My Turn going in at 28. American synthpop group Future Islands score an Official Albums Chart personal best – their Singles collection is new at 34.

Proving the world can’t get enough of Adele, her debut 19 leaps 22 places to Number 37, and Michael Jackson’s smash hit retrospective Number Ones also makes a return, landing at 40 this week.

Now that several of you on here have had your little beef with maidenfan(I like Iron Maiden by the way) can we get back to the original opinion of the living legend David Bowie(He has never made a really duff album throughout his career) ending Adeles reign this Friday.

Everyone's favourite chart record breaker? No, just no. I'm getting sick and tired of it at the top all the time.

I feel the same about Justin Bieber constantly dominating the singles chart

I don't really care about him being top all the time but I do want Love Yourself to fall soon.

Adele only beat Elvis by 3,029 sales not 3300. The report is inaccurate.

all artists are a little bit full of theirself otherwise they would release any music, nothing bad about knowing that you are talented

How is she arrogant? She seems pretty humble in every sense of the word. I think you're suffering from tall poppy syndrome mate lol

You are jealous, mate. I bet Adele has rejected your offer maybe? That's why you are bitter or maybe you didn't get opportunity like what she gets now.

Not as much as Ariana Grande, but 25 at the top constantly is tiring me out.

"Full of herself?" "A music con"? If you dislike Adele so much that you have to resort to making up reasons why, then that's just pathetic, and you have abysmal grammar by the way. I've seen Adele interviewed several times, and she's one of the most humble people in music, not arrogant at all. You're just a stubborn metalhead, judging by your username.

Her reign will end next week with the return of the living legend that is David Bowie and there's no shame in making way for such a star as him and I'm sure Adele won't mind.

I don't really like David Bowie but I'm in for it taking Adele off the top.

I guarantee that downloads are what prevented Elvis from getting to No.1. I bet he is No.1 on physical sales.

Ok Cool, still he is not No1 , he has done well, if it wasn't for Adele he would of had a long run at the top , still fantastic sales compared to most in a short space of time as well. Nice to see him outsell Bieber

I anticipate it reaching the 1 millionth sale by the end of February, 2016.

H

He will easily get to a million. I also think by the end of the year it will probably be 4x platinum. It's already spent a 10 consecutive weeks inside the top 3.

From 690,000 to 3,300, that is fantastic reduction...

3,300 wasn't the weekly figure , it was the difference between the 2

3,300 was wrong anyway. It was 3,029.

Brian. Ur fantastic. The facts and stats u give are just that. Facts! Thank u. Can u keep us all updated on sales figures please. I'm guessing this week was always going to be lower after Christmas and the new year. It might pick up again next week. I'm so hoping it will get to the million. You know what the best news about the success of this album is? Yep, there will now almost certain be another. And who knows, maybe another number 1. Yessss. Andy.
