Adele is the first act confirmed to perform at next year's BRIT Awards.

The singer will take to the stage at the ceremony on Wednesday, February 24 at London's O2 Arena.

Adele has a long history with the BRITs; in 2008 she won the Critics' Choice Award and 2011 she gave an emotional performance of Someone Like You, which helped kick-start the success of her 21 album.

She has also won a further three BRITs for British Female Solo Artist (2012), British Album Of The Year (21, 2012) and British Single Of The Year (Skyfall, 2013).

BRITs Chairman Max Lousada said: “You couldn’t get a bigger name in music right now. Adele is having an exceptional moment and The BRITs are delighted to be a part of her history, her present and future."

The BRIT Awards 2016 with MasterCard will take place on Wednesday February 24 2016 at London’s O2 Arena, hosted by Ant & Dec, and will be broadcast live on ITV. More performers will be announced in the coming weeks.

We want Little Mix nominated and perform (and winning)!!!! Don't give all the awards to Adele just cause she's Adele. This album is not her best at all
