It's what every Spice Girl fan really, really wants - a brand new documentary on the group and their rise to global stardom.

The one-off special, called Spice Girls Superfans, has been made by BBC Music and looks back on the explosion of the band - from Spiceworld - The Movie, meeting Nelson Mandela and Prince Charles, to waving goodbye to a member.

The show - available exclusively on BBC iPlayer from 7am today (August 1) - is narrated by Edith Bowman and is packed with commentary from celebrity fans, including Jess Glynne, Nadine Coyle, Kimberly Wyatt, Foxes, M.O and BBC DJ's Clara Amfo and Scott Mills.

“They were all so individual. It was unlike any other group to come along," Foxes said, while Clara Amfo added: "I am a woman of colour and I think for me, seeing somebody like Mel B in a really popular British girl band was actually really special.

James Stirling, Editor, BBC Music said of the programme: "The Spice Girls are a pop music phenomenon." Spice Girls Superfans offers a fascinating insight into the lasting effect they had on the artists of today. So many of today's pop starts cite them as an influence and I'm glad we can bring them together in our BBC iPlayer exclusive."
