A new musical based on the many, many (many) hits by Max Martin is in the works.

The Swedish pop producer is responsible for 22 Number 1s in America - including songs by Britney Spears, The Weeknd, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift - and countless Top 10s. Seriously, just look at this list.

A brief has been sent out saying the musical is in the "final stages of development" and is being created with Max, with an original story written by David West Read, best known for his work as executive producer of TV comedy Schitt's Creek.

The show is expected to open in July 2019 outside of London, before heading to the West End in 2020.

Casting will take place from August 13 in central London and asks for males and females in their 20s and 30s who are "exceptional singers" with a high standard of dance styles ranging from commercial, street, hip-hop and aerialists to apply.

In 2016 Max won the prestigious Polar Music Prize, which is essentially the Nobel Prize for music. At the time, he said: "If you can somehow influence popular culture, shape it in some way, when something becomes bigger than just a song, that’s the greatest thing for me…this is what I love about music. You can reach so many people."
